What does it mean to be "woke"?

I remember hearing this term around 15 years ago, and it was always implied to mean an accumulation of knowledge. But my psychoanalyst mind couldn't just stop there. I had to know what knowledge considered you to be woke. Just being aware isn't enough. Now, you have the right-wing taking the term and turning it into a negative thing, and it is not by coincidence.

In order to understand the aversion to knowledge or awareness, we must go back in history. In fact, we need to go backwards to understand how we got here in general. Let's go back to the second century, a thousand years after Christ. During the 1000s, Islam was at it's height and humans were in the throes of the holy wars.

Prior to the introduction to organized religion, acquiring knowledge was what our ancestors used to impress the gods. We made major advancements in science, math, and communication. Large architectures were used as a semblance of not only what we were capable of, but a space that the gods could come to rest or revel.

Then came the disbelievers. A renowned medieval Persian Islamic theologian, philosopher, and mystic, Al-Ghazali. His ideals that math can lead to two evils if improperly studied. This caused confusion. On one hand he denounced the precision of mathematics, because he believed it could lead to the assumption that philosophers who teach it are always right, and then adopt their false metaphysical views (which Al-Ghazali deemed heretical). On the other hand he stated math has nothing to do with denying or affirming religious matters.

A similar, often-cited quote that "the good Christian should beware the mathematician" is attributed to St. Augustine (circa 400 CE). However, in that context, "mathematician" referred specifically to astrologers, not practitioners of mathematics or geometry. However, it did not change the average aversion to acquiring knowledge.

What Al-Ghazali did was allow the ignorant human mind to take his ideal and create an extremist ideology. This ideal can be reason for the potential decline in scientific and math-related advancement in the Islam community...but I beg to differ. One pivotal reason for the decline of advancement in not only the Islam community, but the world's oppression of African civilization. The TRUTH is that those advancements came from our ancient ancestors to which the Middle Easterners of that time wanted to conquer and control.

What people, especially American, fail to understand is that before the European man conquered the lands, the Arabian man did. The defacing of statues in Egypt were not the "white" man, but his East Asian cousin. They were the first people to invade and take over Africa and traffic Black bodies for financial gain, and they took credit for the advancements of our ancestors. The white man and the middle eastern man have one thing in common that African/Black people don't: higher levels of Neanderthal DNA. That is another topic that I discussed in the video linked below.

You may be wondering, what does all of this have to do with being "woke" in this time period? It's because history has shown that those in power have created a dynamic that relies on the ignorance of humanity to lead them away from acquiring knowledge. Even if we think about Eve and Adam eating from the tree of knowledge, it led us to believe that knowledge is a bad thing.

On one hand, that's true. It led to labels and divisiveness because we were able to SEE our differences and use it as an excuse to be evil towards those who had different opinions, way of life, or even those who looked different. On the other hand, the more you know about yourself, your history, the operation of this world, the more likely you are to find God in it; but only if you are open enough to it.

When someone has more awareness than you do, it makes you susceptible to their control, hence the state of the world today. Those in power aren't as smart as they are aware, and they know that the average person is not. Knowledge of self and the world creates a path to sovereignty, a goal we all should have. We all should strive for the disconnection of societal expectations; we should learn the ways we are influenced to look, feel, or act a certain way to satisfy mankind's presumptions of us.

I wrote Thorn to the Eye: A Black Person's Guide to Unplugging from the System to push those of us who are already woke to action, and to help those who are on the precipice of awakening to finally realize who they are and where they came from. This book is a catalyst to a movement, and if you don't believe that, grab the free sample to see how it makes you feel and what you learn from it. You may become a believer.

This book is a fight against those in power who are "anti-woke". Those who don't want you to know the truth of your history to keep you under their rule of thumb. They don't want you to stand up or share the knowledge, they want you to sit down and comply...so, will you?

The reason you are locked into religion, have a certain common view of marriage and relationships, and/or have unrealistic expectations of yourself and other humans are due to the societal conditioning that this patriarchal system of white supremacy washes over all of is. This book dismantles those conditioning mindsets and gives you YOUR power back.

I know, you think I'm bias since I'm the creator, but the truth is, there aren't many books out there like Thorn. It isn't just a critical analysis, it is a historical uncovering of your culture, your history, and your original way of life. It may sound crazy to those who aren't "woke", but I had little awareness of creating this book.

I can't remember the timeline, I don't remember everything I said, I just remember the feeling I got when I read it in full the first time. I was astounded that God used me to put words on pages that made me feel that I wasn't even the writer. It was as if I didn't write it all, but the words moved me to want to do better and be better. It made me feel a bigger sense of purpose than I ever had. This is why I will never stop promoting this book. It is what the world needs in a growing "anti-woke" society.
